Hand in Hand Parenting
Online Private Starter Class

This six-week course gives you effective practical tools to make day-to-day family life go well

This course was developed by the not-for-profit organisation Hand in Hand Parenting and is based on over 40 years of work with children and parents. The Hand in Hand approach nurtures the parent-child relationship and focuses on children’s innate desire to love and be loved. It’s an emotion-focused approach that allows parents to put attachment theory into simple, everyday actions that strengthen and protect the vital attachment between parent and child including ways to set loving limits.

By the end of the course, you'll be able to:

  • Skillfully navigate your child's emotional moments

  • Build a closer stronger relationship with your child

  • Bring more ease, warmth and fun to your relationships with your children—even on the hardest days

  • Feel more confident as a parent and more pleased with your family

We'll uncover:

  • Strategies to compassionately navigate everyday challenges like sibling rivalry, troubles with aggression, sleep struggles and picky eating

  • How to build a closer relationship with your child

  • Why your child has meltdowns and how you can respond compassionately

  • How to read your children’s signals for help

  • Why rewards and punishments like star charts, time out, consequences and lectures don't work very well and what to do instead

  • Six connection focused tools that do work to raise a happy, well rounded child

  • How to heal your child’s fears

  • How to help an angry child become playful and compassionate

During our time together you'll:

  • Practice the concepts and tools at home with your children

Testimonials

  • “During the Hand in Hand course I was amazed every week how much closer I became with my children. Now, after, I have grown as a parent, I feel happier and more confident even during the tough times”

SARAH | MOTHER OF TWO, BEGA VALLEY

  • “I am so grateful for this experience. I have gained greater confidence and trust in my parenting- I’ve learnt that I’m okay and my children are more than okay. The Starter Class has contributed in positive ways to many areas of my life, not just parenting. I feel more connected to my children and feel such relief that I can let go of the old ideas of disciplining in ways that are of no value to my children. Rachel made sharing our stories in the small group feel safe and supported. Thank you Rachel”

JOCELYN FRANCE | CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGIST | MUM OF TWO, BEGA VALLEY

  • “...it’s really very effective and being able to see, not only theoretically the benefits of these strategies, but apply them (and they’re very achievable strategies to apply), and then seeing almost instantaneous results is incredible. It works and that’s not just a cliché.”

CORRIE SHEPHERD | PRESCHOOL EDUCATOR | MOTHER OF THREE, BEGA VALLEY

  • “...it was the bridge to the softer, deeper and more rewarding connection with my children that I’d been seeking”

SARAH MORRISON | MOTHER OF THREE BOYS | FAMILY DAY CARE EDUCATOR, BEGA VALLEY, NSW, AUSTRALIA

  • “Before the Hand in Hand Starter Class my son’s tantrums, outbursts and aggression left our family in disarray, distant and disconnected. Now that I’ve done the training I’m able to meet his needs and support him as well as make my family feel safe and loved during stressful times.”

KATIE RYAN | MOTHER OF FOUR, BEGA VALLEY

  • “...I feel more confident and so much more skilled as a parent...”

ERIN MOON | MOTHER OF TWO GIRLS, BEGA VALLEY
